Air Ambulance Interior
Design Excellence Award 2011
Lufttransport AS

Winner of Award for Design Excellence 2011 in industrial design. (Norwegian Design Council.)

Interior design for 11 new Beech 200 ambulance planes. Our main task was to analyse, understand and optimise functionality and user experience for patient, medical team, pilots and maintenance crew. The design had to be negotiated with aero-engineering/manufacturing firm Aerolite Max Bucher, Switzerland. Aerolite was responsible for delivering the custom interiors and it was essential not to increase the ultra low weight promised by them. Specifications had to be met while ideally exceeding the users expectations. Lufttransport AS is Scandinavia’s largest air ambulance company and provides services for the state run Norwegian air ambulance service Luftambulansetjenesten ANS.

Role: Research, concept and industrial design. Co-developed with Aerolite Max Bucher and Lufttransport’s team of expert users from various Norwegian air ambulance bases.
Project Lead at Lufttransport: Fredrik Ottosson.
